While NJCPO offices are government property, there is no audio or video recording allowed by outside persons inside of the offices or report in areas. These areas contain confidential communications and documents that are privileged by law. Any request for specific information or questions regarding this guideline should be submitted to the Chief Probation Officer in writing.
While NJCPO employees can give out information that is public, Georgia law prohibits us from discussing the details of a probationer's case without their consent. At any time a probationer can give, or remove, consent for a loved one and we will note that in their file.
NJCPO employees are not allowed to release copies of court orders. You will need to contact the Clerk of Court where you were sentenced. If you need help please let us know.
NJCPO receives complaints from probationers, citizens and/or department employees. Complainants should be directed to the employee’s direct supervisor.
· Supervisors are authorized to resolve any complaint that alleges minor employee misconduct. If the supervisor cannot resolve the complaint, or the complaint alleges employee misconduct of a higher nature (e.g. unlawful arrest, excessive force, violation of rights, theft, etc.), the supervisor shall direct the complainant to the Chief Probation Officer.
· NJCPO will not accept or investigate an anonymous complaint against an employee.
The Misdemeanor Probation Oversight Unit (MPOU) performs certain duties to oversee the misdemeanor probation services agencies in Georgia. Each probation agency operates independently and has a Service Agreement/Contract with each court and the local governing authority they serve. MPOU does not establish their internal operational practices and procedures. If your concern is related to daily operations, case management decisions or similar matters, you should contact the supervisors and leadership of the probation office to gain information and explanations. However, for matters that cannot be resolved, you may contact MPOU at mpouassistance.request@dcs.ga.gov. When requesting assistance from MPOU please include the following, if possible, to help us serve you in the most effective and timely manner: - Name of the person being supervised. - Name of the probation agency and probation officer. - Description of the situation. - Description of the efforts already made to resolve the matter.
